Dear Friends and Family,
With your support, we successfully completed our first marathon last fall to benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC). During the program, we ran approximately 600 miles, grew to love running, and most importantly, raised more than $9,200 for the AFC. Because of the impact on our lives and the lives of those living the HIV and AIDS, we have chosen to run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
Despite the significant advances in the treatment of AIDS and social support of those with HIV, the epidemic is far from over. With more than 20 million deaths so far, AIDS remains the leading cause of death among all people aged 15 to 59 worldwide. More than one million Americans, and 40 million others around the world, are now living with HIV. The money raised will allow the AFC to fund directly medical care, and provide food, housing, and other vital services. Your generosity in the difficult economy last year touched us. Cuts in governmental support have increased the need this year. We ask for your support to reach our goal of $5,000. No amount is too large or too small.
No longer novices, They Might Be Runners upped the challenge. We ran outdoors through the long Chicago winter and we added mileage and speed training this summer. We hope to cut fifty (50) minutes off of our marathon time to finish in less than four (4) hours. In addition, Kinnier’s Dad has ended more than a decade of running retirement to run the Chicago Marathon with us this October. Your support also makes you part of our team.
