Dear Friends and Family:
As you know, I support a number of charitable causes dealing with children, the homeless, the abused, the elderly and disabled, and those involved in the fight against disease.
This year, I have decided to take on the challenge of running in the Chicago Half Marathon to support the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.
Since late April, I have been training for the Chicago Half Marathon to be held on August 2, 2009. Our training began with one mile and has now progressed to the 10 mile mark. Overall, I expect to log about 300 miles prior to running 13.1 miles on August 2, 2009!
Nearly 1.2 million Americans are now living with HIV, and 40,000 more will become infected this year. The AIDS Foundation of Chicago is leading the fight against HIV/AIDS in the Chicago area by funding prevention programs and vital services such as medical care, and by providing much-needed food and housing, with the overall goal to stop the spread of HIV and help people live full and productive lives, until a cure can be found...
Please join in my efforts by making a monetary donation to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago by clicking the button above which reads “Sponsor Me.” The process is easy and quick--all you have to do is click the button and you are ready to donate. Any amount, large or small is very much appreciated and will make a difference.
Please help me reach and perhaps exceed my fundraising goal and make a difference in the lives of those individuals and families impacted by HIV and AIDS.
Thank you for your efforts, your generosity, your support, and most importantly, your friendship.
Luke
P.S. I am also looking for 13 volunteers to station themselves each mile along the Marathon route on August 2 to cheer me on.
