Dear Friends and Family,

Call it a mid-life crisis or the maniacally happy look of the people in the AIDS running flyers that prompted me to take on this tremendous challenge. Over the next several months, I’ll be training to complete the Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon on August 2; Plus, I’ve made it a personal mission to raise as much money as possible for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC).

I’m not a professional fundraiser, and I never thought I’d agree to run 13.1 miles! But having lost 2 friends in the Chicago advertising community to AIDS, I feel I need to do my part.

Nearly 1.2 million Americans are now living with HIV, and 40,000 more will become infected this year! These aren’t just numbers; they’re real people and real families. The AIDS Foundation of Chicago is leading the fight against HIV/AIDS in the Chicago area by funding prevention programs and vital services such as medical care, food and housing, to stop the spread of HIV and help people live full and productive lives until the day there’s a cure.
