Hi friends and family, I need YOUR help! Since April, I’ve been training to complete the Maui Marathon on September 20; Plus, I’ve made it a personal mission to raise as much money as possible for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC).

I’m not a professional fundraiser, and I never thought I’d agree to run 26.2 miles! Before I began training, I could barely run across the street to catch a bus, but through the grace of God I've managed to log over 300 miles, and complete a 20-mile run a few days after my 29th birthday! When all I want to do is stop, sit down, or stay curled up in bed, I think about how lucky I am to be able to do this sort of thing when so many others can’t.

Nearly 1.2 million Americans are now living with HIV, and 40,000 more will become infected this year! These aren’t just numbers; they’re real people and real families. The AIDS Foundation of Chicago is leading the fight against HIV/AIDS in the Chicago area by funding prevention programs and vital services such as medical care, food and housing, to stop the spread of HIV and help people live full and productive lives until the day there’s a cure.
